Cliff Brockman

Cliff Brockman is the associate producer for Common Ground. He joined the staff in the fall of 2001. His assignments have included his personal favorite: riding on a NATO AWACS jet as it patrolled the east coast after the September 11th attacks.

Brockman has a degree in broadcast journalism from Iowa State University. He is currently working on a masters degree in journalism at the University of Iowa. He spent ten years in radio news and then had a 20-year career in TV news. He has been a reporter, assignment editor, producer, and news director.

Brockman is a past winner of the Jack Shelley Award, presented by the Iowa Broadcast News Association (IBNA) for "outstanding contributions to broadcast journalism in Iowa." He is a past president and board member of the IBNA. He won top awards several times in both Iowa and Illinois for public affairs and news producing.

A confessed "news junkie," Brockman spends much of his spare time doing church work. He also enjoys playing his guitar and dabbles in gardening, model railroading, and numerous outdoor leisure-time sports.

Cliff and his wife Cindy have three children.
